Building a customised boat involves several steps, from initial concept and design to the final construction and delivery.
Here, we'll share our transparent, step-by-step process for building your customised boat build:
You'll meet with our director Dan Williams and our skilled designers to discuss your requirements, preferences, and vision including but not limited to your desired features, budget, and any specific design ideas for your custom boat.
Based on the initial consultation, the team at Mahi Boats will work with you to develop a clear concept for the custom boat. This includes determining the boat's purpose (e.g., fishing, leisure, sailing), size, materials, layout, and special features.
Our skilled architects and designers will collaborate to create detailed plans and drawings of the custom boat. These designs take into account structural integrity, stability, weight distribution, and aesthetics.
The team at Mahi Boats will provide a detailed cost estimate based on the design and materials chosen. This estimate includes the boat's construction cost, any additional features or equipment, and labour charges.
Once both parties agree on the design and cost, a formal contract is drafted outlining the project's scope, timeline, payment terms, and any warranties or guarantees.
The boat builders begin the construction process, adhering to the approved design plans and specifications. Regular updates may be provided during this phase to keep you informed of progress. We will also post photos on our social media pages, so keep an eye out for those!
Throughout the construction process, the team at Mahi Boats will perform quality control checks and inspections to ensure the boat meets safety standards and design requirements.
During the construction, you may have the opportunity to add personalised touches, such as choosing upholstery, colours, electronic systems, and other custom features. Chat to us about this in the consultation phase as this may need to be considered earlier on in the process.
Once the boat construction is complete, sea trials are conducted to test the boat's performance, handling, and systems. This step ensures that the boat operates as intended and any necessary adjustments can be made.
After successful sea trials, a final inspection is conducted with you to ensure everything meets your expectations. Upon approval, you will formally accept your customised boat!
The boat is prepared for delivery, either by land or sea, to your specified location.
Depending on the complexity of the boat and its systems, Mahi Boats may provide training on how to operate and maintain the vessel properly.
